He started playing the mbira when he was a boy in the 1960s. He is one of the most respected players in Zimbabwe, and has taught foreign students in his global tours starting with the US 2012 tour. He is synonymous for good quality mbiras that he makes in a special way, by heating original spring wire over a charcoal fire, then when it's red hot, he molds it into the desired Tune. He uses the heartwood of the mukwa/mubvamaropa tree to make his mbira boards/gwariva . All these processes are done manually without the input of modern equipment. This makes his mbiras unique and they don't lose tune, the tune stays for decades of years.
